The Thingstätte in Dingstede is a modern-day replica of a thing place that was supposedly found in Dingstede in ancient times. The town’s name “Dingstede” basically means “thing place”, so it is assumed that in ancient times the town functioned as a place where justice was done. There used to be a megalithic gravesite in Dingstede, but it was destroyed in the 18th century.
