Urnehoved Tingsted is a Thing place located in Southern Jutland, Denmark.
From 1074 to 1523, Urnehoved Tingsted was South Jutland's county council. It was at the Thing that all free men could meet with the king, or other royalty, to discuss and decide important matters.
Throughout the Germanic world, we can find places were Things were held, as it was a widespread custom to decide upon important community matters in a somewhat democratic way.
The storyteller Saxo reports that at Urnehoved Tingsted, royal tributes also took place. King Erik Emune was killed at Urnehoved Tingsted in 1137.
