The Portal Tomb of Crannagh (in Irish, An Chrannach) is also marked as “Dermot and Grania’s Bed” on old maps. It is located northwest of Lough Coole (in Irish, Loch na Cúile) on a large limestone plateau in the Burren region between Ballyvaughan and Gort in County Galway, Republic of Ireland. Portal Tombs are megalithic structures built during the Neolithic period, between 4000 and 2500 BCE, found in Ireland and Britain. They consist of two equally tall, upright stones with a doorstone in between, forming the front of a chamber covered, in part, by a massive capstone.
