The Domus de Janas of Birghines (also called “Sas Birghines”) is a prehistoric rock grave in the granite rock on the western slopes of Monte Ortobe in Nuoro in the province of Nuoro in Sardinia, Italy.
The square inner courtyard of the Domus de Janas (meaning house of the fairies), also known as Necropoli ipogeica, was originally the main chamber, the ceiling of which collapsed. Access is via a granite arch and from the chamber to two side chambers of the Domus, one of which is square and accessible via an architecturally designed facade with a door with a frame. The other is irregular in shape and has a deformed entrance and a crack in the ceiling.
