Dažbog (Russian: Дажьбог, Дажбог, Дайбог, or Дабог) was one of the major gods of Slavic mythology, a solar deity and a cultural hero. He is one of several authentic Slavic gods, mentioned by a number of medieval manuscripts, and one of the few Slavic gods for which evidence of worship can be found among all Slavic tribes.
The temple is located at the beginning of the Main Caucasian ridge in the anomalous zone «Shapsugskaya». There are a huge number of dolmens and ancient burial mounds in the vicinity of the sanctuary.
